weird, so MIDI is kinda retro now? I talk to so many people that only use softsynths and maybe have a USB keyboard or no keyboard at all. Even for those who still use MIDI, certainly at least some elements are becoming unknown like song position pointer and sysex, maybe even multi-timbral setups.

Personally, I don't like softsynths. They just feel ugly to me. So for those who want to kick it old skool, here's "Untangling MIDI", a MIDI edu-tisement video that covers everything you need to know to get started. My friend Robbie found it at the public library. Last checked out in '96. (sorry, don't have the workbook that goes with it)
